A team sport? If by that u mean a few guys may never touch the ball during the ENTIRE game then YES, it is a team game.

08/30/2010 06:56
I have a hard time watching the LLWS too. When I was a kid I used to love watching it, but it's hard to relate to it now since I'm 10 years older than the kids playing.

I could barely watch the Little League game today.... Yawn... (and I can catch)

Exactly. It relies more heavily on individual skill than other sports do.

Rhinos are saved.

What do you guys think of Rob Clark? I'm a bit shocked it took this short of time to announce a new logo, i thought that was out of left field, but i really like it so i can't complain. Clark said alot of more news will be coming out within weeks. He seems very excited for the season and as am I. I can't wait to start talking players and tactics and not politics. Our club is saved. Now let's talk footy!

I really don't like the new logo. I actually think i liked the old one better. But i'm excited about clark, could be the beginning of great things for the club.

Only thing I really like about the logo is that it doesnt look as childish. I like the idea of having the 4 stars to commemorate each of our championships but isnt it standard to put them on top of the logo and not actually in the logo?

Really? Idk, i hated the old logo. Their next step is to fire their current merchandise supplier and hire somebody new.

There's many more changes to be made i think to make most of our fans happy. I do think their headed in the right direction.

Well I'm just delighted that the news is finally good for the Rhinos and Stampede.

In the 2 years (!?!??!) that I've been following the team I know how passionate and opinionated and knowledgeable you all are, and I chuffed that perhaps this is the corner being turned.

I'm looking forward to the late nights during 2008 watching my second fave team!!!

I'm afraid I can't see the logo, but I'm glad that "Raging" is out of the name.

Some highlights from the conference-

-I thought Clark was nervious as you can expect. He kept it short and simple.
-Will want to look into new concession for next season. Delaware North has go to go. He said they'd look for local people.
-He said parking is an issue and needs to be fixed. One idea is a shuttle service from FF lots.

I like the shuttle service alot.

Some FYI points-

Missing from the conference was Donner, DuRoss or Soccer Sam. I thought Sam should have been there. I also thought one of the ex owners should be there too. Idk... just seemed odd.

I think it'll take a little while for the new logo to grow on me, but I do like that it's not as childish as the old one. It's an improvement, but I think they could have done better.

I agree with RIT Stampede...shouldn't they put the stars above the logo?

I'm glad that the "Raging" part is finally dead! Grin

Well, I never really like the old one ether, i just liked it more compared to this one. I think if they go with the badge they should nix the cartoony look and go for more of a coat of arms type feeling.

But i agree, Clark is defiantly going in the right direction. I love the part about sacking Delaware north.

The new logo isn't bad, could be better, but isn't bad. At least it looks a lot less childish. The lack of "raging" in the name is definetely a plus.

Good to hear they're getting rid of the SELECT brand as well as at least looking into sacking Delaware North. As for the parking, I've never paid for parking nor had trouble finding a spot, but its good to see they're doing something to help bring fans back out.

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I think we'll see a big jump in attendance this year. Its pretty safe to say people were fed up with the old ownership group and the way they were running things. Rob Clark is going to infuse the franchise [hopefully] with some extra $$ for marketing and other little things that will make the game-day experience better for the average fan. Its a new era for the Rhinos, as this thread is titled, hopefully there's a new excitement for the team in the community as well.

I'm more surprised by Sam not being there than I am by Donner or DuRoss not being there. I agree, I'd think that one of the ex-owners should have been there, but I can't blame them for not being there.

The logo isn't the best i think we can all agree on that but IMHO it's a total step up from the old logo. It's much easier to customize it from a supporters point of view and most of all it's a shield.

This first year i don't see attendance going up, it's probably going to be even lower then last season. Many people quit and gave up, they aren't just going to throw their $$$ just because of a new owner and a new logo. Trust has to be gained back, i think many people will just see how the year goes before getting back to it.

I don't know about that. My parents chose not to renew their tickets last year for the first time since '98. With the new ownership figured out and the talks of improving the parking and concessions, my dad is sending in a deposit for 4 season tickets.

Wasn't there also some guy that gave Rob Clark a check for his season tickets AT the press conference? I mean, that could have been someone who would have renewed regardless of ownership, but its a positive thing to see nevertheless.

Overall, I think you're right in terms of season tickets, they probably won't go up THAT much, but I can imagine some big walk-up crowds filled with people curious to see if the experience has changed any.

The entire press conference and comments from Matt Ford, Scott Vallow and Rob Clark will be up on www.soccerisakick...egrass.com later this evening.

BTW, Coach Calloway is in North Carolina at the Rhinos soccer combines. But, Rhinos Women's Coach Peter Amos was there, along with Frank Odoi, Joe Guiliano, Bruno Sniders and many members of the Rochester political team (no, not David Gantt!).
